Seasons

Seasons let you divide your group's history into distinct periods — a quarter, a month, a year, or any time span you choose. Each season has its own leaderboard, giving you a fresh start without losing your all-time history.

Why use seasons?

  • Keeps competition fresh — a new season resets the race to the top
  • Tracks improvement over time — compare how players ranked in different periods
  • Supports campaigns — run a "Summer League" or "Q4 Tournament" with its own leaderboard

How seasons work

When a season is active, every match you record is tagged to that season. The Leaderboard and Analytics pages can be filtered to show only that season's matches, ratings, and stats.

Ratings within a season are calculated fresh from the season's matches — they don't carry over from the all-time history. This means a player who improves significantly gets a fair shot at the top from the season's start.

Switching between seasons

Use the season switcher in the navigation header to toggle between your active season and "All time". If there's no active season, all matches are counted in the all-time view.

Creating a season

Admins can create seasons from the season switcher in the navigation header. Provide a name and an optional end date. A season with an end date closes itself once that date passes; without one, it runs until you start the next season.

Season winners

When a season ends, whoever finishes top of the table is recorded as that season's winner. The result is stored at the moment the season closes, so a match added later can never quietly rewrite history.

Letting the winner name the next season

When an admin creates a new season, they can hand the previous season's winner the right to name it. The admin still sets a working name up front — the winner replaces it later.

The champion sees a congratulation the next time they open the app, along with a prompt to name the season. A few rules keep it fair:

  • They can name only the season that is currently running, and only once
  • If they dismiss the prompt, it comes back the next day
  • If the season ends before they use it, the right is gone
  • Admins can always correct a name afterwards

The winner also gets a notification when the right is granted, so it does not quietly expire. You can turn that off under Season updates in your notification settings.

Season highlights

At the end of a season, the app generates Season Highlights for each player — a recap of their best moments, biggest wins, and rating milestones from that period. Players can view highlights from their profile page.

Multiple seasons

You can have multiple past seasons alongside one active season. Historical seasons remain viewable and are never deleted.
